FC Pune City picked up a well-fought away point at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, as they drew 1-1 against Bengaluru FC on Friday in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. Sarthak Golui scored his maiden Hero ISL goal to give the Stallions the lead in the first half before Miku equalised for the Blues in the second. Post 90 minutes of play, the 20-year-old Golui caught up with indiansuperleague.com and shared his views on the match, his goal and the road ahead. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the match?

First of all, when we started, we had in mind that we would win the match. But Bengaluru is a tough team and we are playing in their fortress. They have very good fans and they were a very tough team to beat. We are happy that we at least won one point.

Talk us through your first Hero ISL goal?

I didn’t think about anything at that time. I just thought that if (Emiliano) Alfaro was going to pass the ball to me, I will hit the target, that’s all! It was an amazing feeling after scoring the goal for the first time in the ISL.

What do you make of Pune’s chances of making it to the playoffs?

Of course, we are targeting the top-four spots. In the next few matches we will try our best to get to the playoffs. As you know, for the last three seasons Pune have never managed to enter the last four, but this season it is going very good for the team. We are all together and hopefully, we will qualify this time.

Currently, what is the atmosphere in the dressing room like?

After scoring the first goal here, everyone thought we were going to win but you know how it goes. We are happy going back after taking the one point from here. Everyone is happy in the dressing room along with the coach as well.

Your message to the travelling fans who came here to cheer for Pune?

I just want to say ‘thank you’ to them. We have a lot of fans who are always travelling for the away games. Even this time, the Pune supporters came this far, all the way from Pune to support us. It feels great and I just want to thank them. Please come for every game and we will try our best to make you all happy.
