Delhi Dynamos FC defeated FC Goa 1-0 in the first leg of their 2015 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) semi-final encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Friday. Both sides had their chances in the opposition penalty area but in the end a Robin Singh header was enough to hand the Lions their maiden triumph over the Gaurs in the history of the league. John Arne Riise, who was as safe as houses at the heart of Delhi’s defence for the entire 90 minutes, spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the game and assessed the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview. How difficult was it to come back from a loss in the last game of the league stage and win this convincingly?Last game was good as well, we played good in the first half. This game, we were a lot more focussed and we played a good 90 minutes tonight. I think we deserved to win. With Delhi having conceded in the last few games, how important was it to earn a clean sheet tonight? It was important for us to get a clean sheet because we knew we could score goals then.Considering the chances created by Delhi, do you think you should have scored more goals?I know, we had a few chances and we could have scored more. But then again, we have a win. And we need to score in the away game as well."Tonight was a good team performance and we shall have to repeat this in Goa."John Arne RiiseCould we see a more defensive approach in the away tie? We’re going to play our game. Tonight was a good team performance and we shall have to repeat this in Goa.How important was the home support today? From the first home game, we’ve seen more and more people come in – something we always needed. It helped us perform better and we’re very thankful to them.
