Two excellent teams of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) played a high octane match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi tonight. Sadly, it ended in a goalless draw for Delhi Dynamos FC and NorthEast United FC. There were some remarkable performances on display though. In particular, it was the visiting custodian Rehenesh TP who impressed one and all after having denied Alessandro Del Piero & Co the pleasure of bulging his net. And fittingly, he was awarded the Emerging Player of the Match. In an exclusive interview with indiansuperleague.com, the 21-year-old keeper from Kerala shared his thoughts on the game, the teammates he looks up to and the chance afforded by Ricki Herbert, NorthEast United FC’s head coach. Read on!What are your thoughts on the game tonight? It was a high-tempo match! Both teams lacked in scoring. We should play to win!As a goalkeeper, you have the full view of the field. What do you think the team lacked today? We played well and are getting better with every match. The only problem is the number of goals. We need to score more! Otherwise, we are going well.In your team, NorthEast United FC, who do you consider as a role model?Alexandros Tzorvas, of course! In the first two games, Tzorvas was in the starting XI. Then you came in. How does having the head coach's faith make you feel?It feels good considering Alex is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He has played in the World Cup which is every footballer's dream. So yeah, it feels good to have the coach believe in you.Speaking of Ricki Herbert, he's not shy of making changes to the playing XI...He's brave! Those who practise well, he lets them play. He's not bothered about big names. We're all united! 8 States, 1 United. (smiles)What is your team's style of playing? We keep passing the ball to each other, trying not to lose it and we try to put pressure on the other team. The focus is more on possession.Goalkeeping as a position is usually reserved for more experienced players. As a young Indian goalkeeper, what do you think of this opportunity? For that, I'd like to thank our coach. He's given me the chance and it makes me feel good. Only if a young goalkeeper gets such a chance, will he be able to prove himself. You mentioned your admiration for Alexandros Tzorvas. What about your captain and defender Miguel Garcia? How is your relationship with him? It's excellent. As a captain, Garcia is perfect. He always motivates us. Even when we make a mistake, he doesn't demoralise us.Finally, what is your ambition in life? It's simple! I want to make my family proud.
