FC Pune City have not had the greatest of campaigns in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL).  After nine matches, the Stallions sit on ninth position, registering only five points in the process. Things are not going to get easier for Pradyum Reddy’s men as they travel to the home of the table toppers Bengaluru FC for their next fixture.

Ahead of the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with attacker Nikhil Poojari for a short interview on the team’s mentality and on Bengaluru FC. Here are the excerpts:

Thoughts on FC Pune City’s start to the season.

It is really sad to see our team in this position. I don’t think anyone expected us to be in this position, but we have to accept what has happened and think about the matches which we have now.

Were you worried about competing for a starting spot when you signed?

I wasn’t worried, but I was looking forward to playing alongside them. Now I’m getting more game time with them and I’m really enjoying playing with them now.

Which player has had the best work ethic in the team?

Now I think Ashique Kuruniyan is doing really well, he has scored one goal and he’s doing really well for our team.

Thoughts on Bengaluru FC.

They have been consistent, they are a well-organized team. They have been doing really well, they have the same set of players which they had last season, but I think we are performing well and hopefully, we can get points.
