Mumbai City FC will look to boost their confidence heading into the semi-finals with a win over FC Pune City on Sunday's Maharashtra Derby at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune.
Before the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Mumbai defender Lucian Goian for a pre-match interview. Here are the excerpts.
Thoughts on making your 50th appearance for Mumbai City FC.
Yeah, from the first moment when I came to Mumbai, I was feeling happy and I’m still feeling happy every match I play for Mumbai City FC. Every time I wear the Mumbai City FC jersey, I wear it with pride in my heart and I try to give everything in every single match and every training and I hope that I’ll leave something behind until now. I like playing for Mumbai, I like playing at home, even if we don’t have so many fans like a Kerala Blasters FC or other teams but they come with a lot of energy in our home ground matches so I enjoy every moment at this club so far.
What is it that will take Mumbai City FC to the title this season?
We have to continue with what we’ve been doing until now; playing with our heart. For sure we have quality in the team, we proved that we have good quality in the team. All the matches that we were 100% focused, we had a good attitude and we give 100% on the pitch, we could win against anybody so we have to continue like that because we are a good group, a strong united group and I think this is one of the keys for success.
How are you preparing for the semi-finals?
I will prepare like I prepare for any other match, I don't have anything special. Now I know most of the strikers in the Hero ISL and you have to of course adapt. Some of them are strong, some of them are fast, some of them have very good technique. I have no special treatment for the strikers. Of course, there are very good strikers in the Hero ISL this season.
