Bengaluru FC shared the spoils with FC Pune City at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, ending the top-of-the-table clash of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 with a 1-1 scoreline. This was the Blues’ first draw of the season, as Miku scored the equaliser in the second period to cancel out Sarthak Golui’s opener for the Stallions. After the final whistle, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the home team’s midfielder Lenny Rodrigues for his views on the draw and more. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the draw?

It was a tough match today. They (Pune) also have to remain in the first four so they had to win the match, while we have already qualified for the semi-finals. We gave our best and the result is positive for us.

Do you think Bengaluru’s midfield had a huge role to play in Miku’s equaliser?

When they (Pune) got the goal, all their players went defensive and we could not make inroads. But we kept on creating chances and at last we scored the goal. So, we are happy.

Bengaluru had a lot of games to play in a short span of time. So, what are your views on that?

For us, we are training hard to win this championship. In between, there are a lot of matches, so the coach decides on how he wants to rotate the squad, finalise the line-up and whom he wants to give rest and whom he wants to play.
