Chennaiyin FC take on Bengaluru FC in a tough away fixture, with both teams in search of their first victory in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20. With substantial history between the two sides, fans can expect an entertaining affair at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Chennaiyin winger Lallianzuala Chhangte joined indiansuperleague.com for an exclusive pre-match interview ahead of the highly-anticipated clash. Here are excerpts.

How have you adapted to life at Chennaiyin FC?

Since joining Chennaiyin FC, I feel at home as I have many friends out here. We’ve been gelling very well since I joined in pre-season. We haven’t gotten what we wanted on the pitch yet, but I hope we will soon. We just need a bit of luck and we will keep working hard.

What has the team learned in their last three Hero ISL matches?

We’ve learned a lot about each other, on and off the pitch, especially on the pitch. All we got to do is keep doing the right things that we do on the pitch and move forward as a team, and all will be well.

How important is it to go into the break with a win?

It is very important, it would be a shame, going to the (National Team) camp without three points. We will give our best in the next match to win. Of course, it is an important match for us to win for our fans and to keep up the confidence.

On facing Bengaluru FC.

They (Bengaluru FC) will be a tough opponent. They are the reigning champions, but the focus is all on the team. We will give our best, our 100% and hope we get three points out of the match.

On going head to head against fellow India internationals including Sunil Chhetri.

It is always a learning process to come up against such a legend like Sunil (Chhetri). They have four-five international players in their team, so it will be a tough match. A great learning process but, it is all about my team, Chennaiyin FC. If we come up against the best in the world, all I have to do is focus on the team and myself, and get a win for my team, so we will be focusing on that.
