Atlético de Kolkata’s win against NorthEast United FC was their first in five games, after three draws and a loss in their previous four games. Baljit Sahni, who is a forward by trade but has been drafted in as a makeshift right back due to Denzil Franco’s injury, put in another tireless shift in defence to preserve Kolkata’s narrow victory. The Punjab-born player has adapted quickly, and has not looked at all uncomfortable despite being deployed out of position. In an exclusive post-match interview with indiansuperleague.com, Sahni discussed his new role, and what lies ahead for his table-topping side following the win over NorthEast. It’s your first win after four matches. How do you feel?I feel really good. Whatever we did to try and win in those four games, call it bad luck or whatever, we couldn’t get the results. So it feels really good to get all three points today."We just couldn’t finish off the chances that we created."Baljit SahniYou have a few away matches after this. Will this result serve as a boost for those matches? It’s a big boost for our confidence because we’ve won the match and we’re comfortably on top of the table. So it will really help our confidence, and we’ll try to play well in those away matches.Did you all get any special instructions at half-time that you were able to change the game in the second half? It’s not like we weren’t dominating in the first half. We just couldn’t finish off the chances that we created. This defence you have is a makeshift one, you are a forward and you’re in a right back role. So what do you have to say about your new position? The coach believes that I can play in this position, so I hope that I do well! There is no problem playing in this position.
