On Sunday, FC Pune City travels to the home of the defending Champions ATK in quest of their first Hero Indian Super League 2017-18 win at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. One of the talented wingers who is plying his trade for the Stallions this year is the 25-year old Kean Lewis. Having reached the Hero ISL semi-finals with Delhi Dynamos FC in 2016, he will be aiming to go a step further with his new side. Ahead of a difficult fixture against ATK, Lewis shared with indiansuperleague.com his objectives for the upcoming season. Here are the excerpts.
Not the ideal start with a 3-2 loss against your former side this season. What are your thoughts heading into the next game?
I think they (Delhi Dynamos FC) played well. They deserved to win on that given day. Like you said, not an ideal start for us but we’ve to put that behind us. It’s a long league and a lot many games to go. So hopefully, we can start with an away win.
You were not fully fit for the previous game, so what’s the status of your injury at present?
It’s much better. I’m getting fitter by the day. So, hopefully, I’ll get some more game time in the coming game.
You had a good season last year with Delhi. What are your personal objectives with Pune this season?
Firstly, it’s important for us to qualify for the playoffs as a team, which is our main target collectively and individually as well. Being in the semi-finals, I want to go a step further. It’s going to be tough but it’s something we’re looking forward to. It’s a long season, we want to do better than we did last year. So, I want to score more and be more effective. With the long league and injuries, shifting positions or changing the style of play, overall I just want to be effective and help the team win.
