Chennaiyin FC shot-stopper Karanjit Singh put in a match winning display to help the southerners beat Jamshedpur FC 1-0 at the JRD Tata Complex in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 on Thursday. Karanjit produced a stunning save from Kervens Belfort’s penalty in the dying minutes of the first half after Jeje Lalpekhlua put the visitors in front. Speaking after the game to indiansuperleague.com, the Chennaiyin FC goalkeeper was clearly delighted with the victory. Here are the excerpts from the interview:

Thoughts on tonight’s game?
It was a great win because last match we drew and we played a good team and won three points, so it is good for us.

How does it feel for you’ll as a team to score against the best defence in the league?
It’s good because in the last six games they’ve had five clean sheets and have defended well. Even today, they did well, but we succeeded in scoring so that is good for us as we got the three points.

Tell us about your penalty save?
That was a big moment and the turning point of the match but that is my job and I did it, so I am happy we got three points.

What do you make of Jamshedpur’s defence?
They have been good because in the last six games they did well. They are compact and have great players, both Indian and foreigners. They did well, but the moment was when we got the penalty so we are happier that we got the three points even if it’s a penalty or a goal in anyway.
