Jamshedpur FC return to Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2018-19 action for the first time post the international break, where they take on a rejuvenated ATK side at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday. Playing their first home match of the season, the Cesar Fernando led unit will be hoping to maintain their fantastic start to the campaign, which sees them sit comfortably with four points on the board already.

Key to Jamshedpur’s resurgence this season has been the form of young Indian talents like Jerry Mawhmingthanga, who has slotted into the senior side with relative ease. Indiansuperleague.com caught up with the promising youngster ahead of his side’s matchup against former coach Steve Coppell’s men. Here are the excerpts:

How important is getting the three points in your first home match?

Three points are always important, home and away, and to win a home match for the first time for this season (is also important). It will be a great boost for us to have three points in our home.

What are the benefits of playing with an experienced player like Tim Cahill?

Yeah, like Tim there are so many different good players here and they help us a lot. Like for the youngsters, they inspire us and they tell us, give us information on and off the pitch. They help us each and every day, so it’s very important for us to let them inform us in what way we could do it better and improve more. They are very important for us.

How crucial was the comeback draw against Bengaluru FC?

We don’t stop working, we keep on pushing each other and we build up the team. So, in the end, we scored the goal again. It was very important for us to have that goal in the end.

Having played under Steve Coppell, how does it feel to play against him?

Yeah, he’s a great coach and to be honest, last year, I learned many things from him and to play against him this year, it will be great. Really excited to play.
