Chennaiyin FC went level on points with Bengaluru FC in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 after beating the Blues 2-1 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. Jeje Lalpekhlua opened the scoring for Chennai after putting his team ahead in the fifth minute. Sunil Chhetri scored an equalizer for the hosts but Dhanpal Ganesh struck late to secure maximum points for Chennai. Goal-scorer Jeje, who has now netted thrice in the ongoing campaign, spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

How important is this win?

It was a tough game and getting three points especially in an away game is difficult, but we did what we wanted to and got the win. We made quite a few mistakes tonight, but we need to continue with the hard work and move forward to the next game.

How important was the early goal tonight?

Bengaluru are a good side, especially at home. They were unbeaten at home, but we did a great job and it has been amazing. We got the three points tonight. Now we need to keep this momentum going.

Message for the fans?

I think Chennaiyin FC fans are the best in the league. I would like to thank not just the fans who travelled to watch us, but also to all the fans watching all over.
