ATK put up a fine performance against Hyderabad FC in their last outing at home but will hope to find their away form in Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 when they clash against Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. The two-time Hero ISL champions emerged as 5-0 victors against Hyderabad and will be eager to continue the scoring run against a stubborn Chennaiyin defence.

Ahead of the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Jayesh Rane, who played for Chennaiyin in the past, for an exclusive interview, during which he opened up about his personal feelings before facing his former team. Here are excerpts from the interview.

After the five-star performance in the last game, how’s the morale like?

Everyone is very confident right now and ready for the next game.

You notched up your first assist of the season in the last match. Will it boost your confidence?

Yes it will give me a lot of confidence because before that (match against Hyderabad), in the Kerala game, we played well, but we didn’t score a lot of goals and we lost that game. So, last game, all the chances we got, we made sure that we scored. That's what David (Williams) , Roy (Krishna) and Edu (Garcia) did. Everyone in the team has their confidence high now and we are all geared up for the next game.

Talking about Roy Krishna and David Williams, how has the experience been playing with those two?

Obviously, there are lot of things to learn from them. In training also, I try to learn from them. Not only David (Williams) and Roy (Krishna), Carl (Mchugh) also. They keep teaching me something or the other. If I make any mistakes, they will try to correct it. That's how it is in the team, everyone is helpful. So, players like me have to learn from them and play well.

You have had a very good experience playing at Chennai before. It was your home for three years. How does it feel to go back (to the stadium)?

I have played there for three years so obviously it will be a special feeling for me. I hope I will score again and make the team win.

ATK's away form off late has not been very good. How keen is the team to turn it around?

In the first game, we did well but we missed a lot of chances. But after the massive win in the last game, everyone is confident that we will win the next game. We have to turn things around and win the away matches to be in the top four and that's it. We are very confident for the match.
