Chennaiyin FC will be battling to salvage some pride when they travel to Guwahati to play against the high-flying NorthEast United FC on Saturday. The defending champions have endured a torrid season so far and are rooted to the bottom of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 table with just five points from 12 matches.

Chennaiyin have roped in Halicharan Narzary and CK Vineeth from Kerala Blasters FC for the remainder of the season and will look to put up a strong front in their remaining six matches of the campaign. Ahead of the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Narzary for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts.

How was your experience at the AFC Asian Cup?

It was very good because we played against good sides. We got some great experience because we got an idea of how they play and how we play ourselves.

How does it feel to join Chennaiyin FC?

I am very happy to come here to Chennai and join Chennaiyin FC. I’ll give my all for the team whenever I play and in whichever position I play.

What is your preferred position?

Basically, I like playing as a winger because I get a lot of freedom to express myself on the flanks and I contribute in attack as well as defence.

What can we expect from Chennaiyin the match against NorthEast?

Well, we’ll only be able to find out once we are on the ground. Basically, we know most of their players and how they play. We’ll see what happens on the ground.

Thoughts on your new team.

I know a lot of people here in the team, Jeje, Germanpreet, Thapa, Ralte. I know them all so it’s good. The combination may click sooner rather than later because everyone over here is very encouraging.
