Chennaiyin FC snatched a crucial 1-0 victory in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 over FC Pune City at the Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, reclaiming their position at the top of the table. Gregory Nelson was on the scoresheet for Chennai, who maintained their unbeaten streak against the Stallions in Hero ISL. While speaking to indiansuperleague.com after the game, the Dutch midfielder emphasized the importance of Raphael Augusto’s assist and the three points. Here are the excerpts.
What are your thoughts on the game?
Pune played very good especially in the first half. We also missed the penalty which made it difficult. But I think in the second half, we picked it up. We started playing better, we created some chances. I’m glad we won the game.
When you’ll missed the initial penalty, what was going through your mind?
Of course, when you get a penalty in a difficult game, you think now is the chance to score. But unfortunately, it didn’t go in. It can happen. I’m just happy that we played better second half and won the match. The penalty is forgotten.
What are your thoughts on the goal?
It was a very good ball from Rafa (Raphael Augusto). This is my strength, one on one. Rafa gave me a great ball and I try to do the best with it. I’m glad that I scored.
What was said at the half-time team talk?
That we should play better. The first half wasn’t good. It was very difficult. There was a lot of running behind the ball, we wanted to play with the ball.
How important is it that goals come from everyone?
It’s very important. If it always comes from one guy, if this guy doesn’t have a good game, the team struggles.
Any message for the fans?
