The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa lay witness to a thriller as visitors Mumbai City FC edged FC Goa 4-3 on Sunday in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. Ferran Corominas’ brace and Manuel Lanzarote’s tap-in failed to reap dividends as the Gaurs fell short in front of the Islanders’ fightback. The league’s top-scorer Corominas added two more on the night, to take his season’s goal tally to 12, but it wasn’t enough to bag maximum points. After the final whistle, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the Spaniard to find out his take on the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Your thoughts on today’s match?
Obviously, it was a game with a lot of goals but the main difference maker was the red card. Once the red card came in to play, there was a lot of spaces that opened up and the other team took advantage of that. We had a few chances to take a point from the game, but we didn’t take advantage of them. Therefore, we ended up losing.
How important is your partnership with Brandon Fernandes and Manuel Lanzarote?
It’s not just those two who help. Every player helps each other in trying to do as much as we can. We try and support each other as much as possible. It ends up that I am scoring but it is all of us together. We’re doing this together.
What are your plans for the next game after today?
There is nothing much left to do in this game. Now we just have to focus on the next game because this game is done and there is nothing we can do about it. So, focus on the next game and try and get three points. Let’s aim for that.
Is there anything you could have done differently tonight?
It’s the little details that make the difference. In the game against Mumbai, away from home, it was an offside that incorrectly ruled out a goal, which cost us. Today it was a red card. Some games you lose, but we also win other games. So, that’s how we are going to look at it.
