Mumbai City FC and FC Goa face off in the first leg of Hero Indian Super League 2018-19 semi-final 2 at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday. With the second leg at Goa scheduled on Tuesday, a positive result in the match can give either team the upper hand in their quest for a spot in this season's final.
Before the match, indiansuperleague.com interviewed Goa's Edu Bedia. Here's what the midfielder had to say.
Do you think FC Goa’s defence has improved this season?
Not only the defence, but I think the whole team has improved. It is the same squad that is working under head coach Sergio Lobera for two seasons. I think the improvement has been overall.
Do you think your personal game has improved?
Last season, I was playing in a different position. This season, I am playing more up front. Personally, I am happy with the work I have done in the two seasons as of now, but now, it is time for the real business.
On playing against Mumbai City FC?
We have to do what we have to do. We need to look at ourselves and what we do because if we approach the semi-final or any match like this, then we can beat anyone.
Thoughts on FC Goa's consistency over the seasons.
FC Goa has made it to the semi-finals for four years and that proves that the team is doing good work behind the scenes. As I said before, working with Sergio Lobera makes things easier and a lot of things have improved because of that.
Which player possess a big threat from Mumbai City FC?
Their striker Modou Sougou is a great player. He has managed to score a lot of goals during the league but as I said before, we have to focus on ourselves and keep doing what we have done until now.
Will we see you score another screamer?
Hopefully, I can repeat that, but in the end, the most important thing is that we bring back home a good result and it does not matter who scores the goals.
