Chennaiyin FC host rivals Bengaluru FC in another intense South Indian Derby at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. John Gregory's men, who are currently rooted to the bottom of the table, will look for a victory in the fixture in order to salvage some pride from what has been a forgettable season so far.

Ahead of the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Chennaiyin's new Australian recruit Christopher Herd for an interview. Here's what he said.

Thoughts on the upcoming derby against Bengaluru FC.

It’s a massive match. Everyone’s told me how big it is, the rivalry between the two teams, so I’m looking forward to it. We can’t wait to get out there and hopefully we can get the fans three points and a big win.

How has your Hero ISL experience been so far?

I had seen it on the internet. Now that I'm here, I can see how much they want the league to grow and expand and I think they’re going about it the right way. There are some big players who have played in the past and obviously, the Indian players are developing into better players. I think as a whole it’s moving forward and I think in the future, it’s going to only get better.

Thoughts on the Chennaiyin FC fans.

Oh, the fans have been fantastic with me from the day I arrived and I’d just like to thank them for their support and hopefully, we can bring them success.
