After a stuttering start to the 2018-19 campaign of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), ATK finally got on the right note with a well-deserved victory over Delhi Dynamos FC on Wednesday. The two-time champions would be looking to carry the same form and result when they travel to the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday to take on Jamshedpur FC at their home ground.

Against Delhi, Balwant Singh played a pivotal role in the victory, contributing with an excellent goal in the first half, his club’s first of the season. Ahead of Sunday’s encounter, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the forward for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts from the same:

Your first goal and the team’s first win in the last match. How did it feel?

Felt good. The team performed well. Everyone performed well. The effort was right and because of that, we won the game. Even the bench played well. Maimouni (El Maimouni Noussair) scored as a substitute, so it felt good. Everyone was involved and the fighting spirit was good.

Your views on Jamshedpur as an opponent.

They are a very good team. Their setup is very good. They performed very well in the last game. So, as an opponent, we have to work harder than we did in the last match. They’ll be playing at home. We all have to go in with the same attitude and fight for the match as it’s an important game for us.

As a team, what are ATK doing to improve themselves?

Team performance is very important. More important than individual performances. If we play as a team, results will come, as I think, football is more about the team.

Steve Coppell was Jamshedpur's coach last time. Has he given you all any special tactics?

Not yet. He hasn’t talked about Jamshedpur. We had two good training sessions and then a recovery session. As I said, this game is very important for us and I hope we win this game.
