Badara Badji and Delhi Dynamos FC will be looking for their fourth win on the bounce in Hero Indian Super League 2016 when they host Atlético de Kolkata at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday. The Senegalese striker has made nine appearances for the Lions this season, scoring twice and providing one assist. Badji has also completed two key passes and is a towering presence in the box during both attacking and defensive set-pieces. The 22-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive interview ahead of the Dynamos’ clash with ATK. Here are the excerpts. How would you say the league is going for you on a personal level?I think it’s good, for me and for all of us. It is a good challenge. We are football players and we need to play. It’s very important to play in a good league with good players. It has been very good for us, for me and for everybody.Your team has some of the best wingers in the league. Do you think playing as a striker is an advantage for you?Yes, of course. Being a player, when I play with good players I feel good on the pitch, with big players like Florent Malouda and Marcelinho. It is very important to play at the same level. We must learn good things from them. It is really good for all players to grow. You are tall and very mobile for a target man. How would you describe you football style?I don’t know exactly. I’m told it’s really good. Sometimes, it’s not good as some movements are slow, like in small spaces, but in aerial balls it is very beneficial. You have came off the bench and scored a couple of precious goals for the team. Does the coach give you some specific instructions? When the coach sends me on the pitch, it is for me to do the best to help the team. To keep the ball as a lot of players are tired. So when I come on the pitch I must do something good and help the team.Delhi isn’t a footballing city but we have seen a significant number of fans turning out for you guys. Do you have any message for the fans?Firstly, I would like to say thank you for supporting us. Sometimes, there are not many fans in the stadium but it’s okay. Their presence helps in the stadium. It is very important to us.
