Atlético de Kolkata were beaten 3-2 by Mumbai City FC in their 2015 Hero Indian Super League game at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Friday. With the loss, their five-match undefeated streak also came to an end. The defending champions thought they had rescued a late point courtesy of an Arata Izumi strike when Sony Norde netted the game’s winner in the final minute of added time. Izumi, who scored his fifth goal of the season against Mumbai, spoke to indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive interview shortly after the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview.Tough game tonight. What are your thoughts on the result? It is disappointing for us since if we [had] won we would have been on top of the league but now it depends on the others. But we are in the semis so we should be thinking about our semi-final match. So we should focus on that and forget about the loss. What about your own performance tonight?I don’t talk about my own performance but we did everything, just unfortunate that we couldn’t win today. Is the result today a damper going into the semis?I don’t think so. We have the confidence and we’re playing good football. And every game we’re working hard so definitely we will go to the semis with great confidence."We have the confidence and we’re playing good football."Arata IzumiYour thoughts on the crowd support here tonight…Yeah, it’s an excellent crowd here. Too bad that we couldn’t give a victory to them but I’m sure they are going to support us in the semis as well.
