Mumbai City FC will look to seize the initiative when they take on FC Goa at the Mumbai Football Arena for the first leg of the semi-final 2 on Saturday.

Before the crunch tie, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Mumbai's Amrinder Singh and Subhasish Bose to know their thoughts on the match. Here are the excerpts.

Amrinder Singh

How important will it be to secure a win in the first leg?

Winning the first leg will be important. We need to focus on keeping the ball and to not concede. It will be great if we score, but it will also be important to keep a clean sheet.

How do you plan on stopping the FC Goa attack?

FC Goa have been attacking well throughout the season. They have been consistently performing well since the last two seasons. We have faced them twice this season already and we know what mistakes we did and what plus points they have. So, whatever the head coach decides, we will act accordingly and give our best.

How advantageous will it be to play the first leg at home?

It's always advantageous to play at home in front of our fans. I think this is a good opportunity for us to play at home first. So, I want the fans to come and support us as it is crucial for us.

Does Mumbai City FC have a plan to stop Ferran Corominas?

Ferran Corominas is one of the best strikers in the league. But, I don't think there will be any particular plan for him. It's a team game and we will try and execute our head coach's plan.

Subhasish Bose

What is the mood in the camp like ahead of the semi-final?

Very good. The preparation is going well and everyone is excited and motivated to play the semi-final. We’ve worked very hard in the last seven-eight months to reach here, so it’s our aim now to win these matches and reach the final.

Having played a semi-final before, how valuable is the experience?

I had a good experience with Bengaluru FC last season when I played against FC Pune City and we won both the home and away legs. So, this time around for Mumbai City FC, I’ll give my best. The whole team wants to reach the final. That’s something I said at the start of the season, that I want a trophy. So for the trophy, I’ll give my 100% to the team to try and win.

Any special plans in place to stop Ahmed Jahouh and Ferran Corominas?

(Ahmed) Jahouh and (Ferran) Corominas are both very good players and the whole FC Goa team is good so, we’ll just give our best and play our style of football. It’s a home match for us, so we’ll use the fan support to be more motivated to play a better match and reach the final.
