Emiliano Alfaro continued going from strength to strength in the 2016 Hero Indian Super League as the Uruguayan striker scored his fifth goal of the season on Friday evening. However, despite his goal, NorthEast United FC, playing in front of home fans at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, couldn’t get the better of Atlético de Kolkata, who came from behind through goals from marquee man Helder Postiga and Juan Belencoso to register a 2-1 win. Alfaro, who scored his goal through a delightful header, spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match and shared his thoughts on the defeat. Here are the excerpts from the interview.You scored the first goal of the game, however, ATK came from behind to win. What’s your take on the game?Now I am very sad because we lost the game. Even more because we were leading and then we lost 2-1. Now we need to work on the mistakes we made in the game and keep moving ahead. Our target is first to reach the semis, then the final. Yes we have to work on the mistakes we made in the game but this is football and sometimes this happens but we will work to improve it.Are injuries a concern for the team?Yes, they are. Injuries happen anytime in football, even in a league like this where we play very fast and there are many close games. But that’s how it is here and we have to respect it and play here.ATK came back strongly in the second half, did it surprise NorthEast United FC?Yes it did surprise that they scored two. Helder Postiga is a very good player and we all know that. But we made many mistakes too and gave away the ball easily. This is football we cannot go back and change it but we need to look forward to the next game and we have to concentrate on moving forward.NorthEast United have been creating a lot of chances but not finishing them off. What do you think is the reason?In football this sometimes happens. In other games, we create fewer opportunities and score, but today we did create a lot of opportunities but didn’t score many. This is football and we have to accept it.Next game is after a long break of seven days. How are you going to take this break?We will work hard and fix the mistakes. We will do our best to win the next match.
