FC Pune City inflicted a first Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 defeat on Jamshedpur FC when they visited the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Sunday. Adil Khan scored what turned out to be the only goal of the match, consequently preventing Subrata Paul from maintaining a fifth consecutive clean sheet. The midfielder spoke to indiansuperleague.com post-match where he shared his thoughts regarding the game. Here are excerpts:
Adil, your thoughts on the game?
It was a tough game today. You can see the ground conditions, it is very difficult to play and to have ball possession. Whenever you go to pass, your leg gets stuck in the ground, so it was difficult. It was an away game as well, so getting three points is great for the team.
What are your thoughts on being the first player to score against Jamshedpur FC?
It’s a team effort. We trained hard and practised our corners and free kicks. So, it worked and I’m very grateful to score a goal against them because they have a very organized defence. They had not conceded a goal in the last four games, so it was really good.
How hard was it to breakdown the Jamshedpur defence?
It was very difficult, they are very strong, very tall and organized. It’s not like our attack is not strong. If we get chances, we will score goals.
