The 2021-22 season of the Hero Indian Super League came to a close with Kerala Blasters FC and Hyderabad FC squaring off for the title in the grand finale on March 20. The Manuel Marquez side came out on top after winning the penalty shootout 3-1 after a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

The season produced some beautiful footballing moments. Teams didn't just score a truckload of goals but the quality of the goals was also staggering. There have been some extraordinary long-range efforts.

On that note, let's take a look at the top seven long-range goals from the 2021-22 Hero ISL.

Sahil Tavora vs Kerala Blasters FC

The central midfielder made another appearance from the bench and saved HFC from defeat in regulation time. He scored a long-range goal with a sensational volley to take the game into extra time. The 88th minute volleyed goal for Hyderabad FC - the moment of magic which defined the Hero ISL 2021/22 final - was just the third of Tavora's Hero ISL career.

Adrian Luna vs ATK Mohun Bagan

Kerala Blasters and ATK Mohun Bagan shared points in a four-goal thriller. The Uruguayan scored twice for Kerala Blasters in this game. Luna Opened the goalscoring with a stunning free-kick in the seventh minute and scored another long-range goal which left ATKMB goalkeeper Amrinder Singh stranded with a fabulous curled chip in the 64th minute.

Alvaro Vazquez vs Northeast United FC

There's something about audacious long-range goals in football. Well, in the 2021-22 season, Alvaro Vazquez scored one from inside his own half. Late in the second half against NorthEast United FC, the Spanish forward retrieved the ball in his own half. Vazquez was quick to spot that NEUFC shot-stopper Subhasish Roy Chowdhary was off his line. The KBFC man acted quickly and smashed a long, curling effort towards the Highlanders net. Caught off-guard, Subhasish tried to crawl back into position but the ball evaded the helpless keeper and gently rolled into the back of the net. The goal was the output of Vazquez's presence of mind and his sheer skill.

Jorge Ortiz vs Chennaiyin FC

The Gaurs defeated Chennaiyin FC 1-0 in this match, thanks to Jorge Ortiz's late-game stunner. This was their first victory under new head coach Derrick Pereira. At the 81st minute mark, Chennaiyin keeper Debjit Majumder was off his line and Gaurs' striker Jorge Ortiz took a long-distance shot and scored his fourth goal of the 2021-22 ISL. FC Goa played out the remaining nine minutes to defeat the Marina Machans 1-0.

Jonathas Christian vs Hyderabad FC

Jonathas Christian's wonder strike against Hyderabad FC did not prove enough for the Kalinga Warriors. But it would probably not be an exaggeration to say that the goal stole the headlines rather than HFC's win. In just the 21 minutes the Brazilian had on the field, he showed what the Juggernauts have been missing. He scored a screamer from the left edge of the box, after receiving the ball from Tlang. He smashed it past ATKMB goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya, who dived to his left to stop the shot but stood no chance. Though the match ended in favor of Manuel Marquez's side with a scoreline of 3-2.

Joao Victor vs Hyderabad FC

The Hyderabad FC skipper scored the crucial goal which gave his team the lead in the second half. Despite being a defensive midfielder, Joao got in good scoring positions. He drew five fouls and made four successful tackles in this game. In the 45th minute, Ashish Rai played the ball to Victor, who stepped past with the ball to his marker and pulled off a trigger that arrowed past the right hand of Arshdeep Singh, making it 2-1 for Hyderabad FC.

Joni Kauko vs Hyderabad FC

In this match against Kerala Blaster FC, a 10-man Kolkatan outfit earned themselves a point from the jaws of defeat. For most of the game in the second half, it looked like the three points are going to the Tuskers. But Joni Kauko had other plans. The Finnish midfielder volleyed home from outside the box to bring the scores level for the Mariners. He held up the ball well and frequently dropped into half-spaces to provide another attacking outlet as well as to help in the build-up. He turned out to be the hero for ATK Mohun Bagan as he scored an absolute thunderbolt that went past Kerala Blasters custodian Prabhsukhan Gill.
