Gameweek 8 of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) saw FC Goa finally ending ATK FC’s fine run of form while wins for Odisha FC and Mumbai City FC gave a glimpse of how close the competition is this season. Bengaluru also fell to their first defeat of the season, before winning against NorthEast United FC to top the standings.

As the week comes to an end, here we take a look the 11 players that were key for their teams and make it to the Team of the Week (based on individual player ratings in their respective matches).  

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Bengaluru FC)

Even though the Bengaluru custodian conceded three against Mumbai, he secured a clean sheet against NorthEast. He made eight saves across the games alongside saving an important penalty by Mohamed Larbi. He also made a combined 11 clearances in both the matches.

Asish Rai (Hyderabad FC)

The young fullback created three chances and was key to Hyderabad's two goals against Odisha. Four of his six tackles were successful, and he made five clearances as well.

Carlos Delgado (Odisha FC)

Delgado scored the opening goal against Hyderabad to ensure his team were the better side all through the game. The defender made eight clearances and had a passing accuracy of 67%.

Mourtada Fall (FC Goa)

Fall has continued his fine form this season, making it to the Team of the Week yet again. Fall scored the opening goal against ATK and was key in the defence as well, making 13 clearances and five tackles.

Subhasish Bose (Mumbai City FC)

The defender scored his first Hero ISL goal in three seasons, when he opened the scoring against Bengaluru. He also assisted Rowllin Borges for the winner and made 17 clearances for his side on the night.                                    

Rowllin Borges (Mumbai City FC)

Borges was one of the best players for Mumbai City as the Islanders went on to beat the defending champions. The Goan scored the winner in the last minute of extra time and was the best player in the middle of the park with a passing accuracy of 74%.

Xisco Hernandez (Odisha FC)

Xisco deserved a slot after his excellent show against Hyderabad, where he scored and assisted two of the three goals his team netted. The Spaniard also created four chances, to ensure his side remains in the reckoning for a top four slot.

Hugo Boumous (FC Goa)

Boumous assisted Ferran Corominas’s winner which ensured his team got the better of ATK and climbed over them in the standings. The Frenchman created six chances during the whole match and had a passing accuracy of 70% againstthe two-time champions.

Brandon Fernandes (FC Goa)

Brandon Fernandes put up another fine performance against ATK, assisting Fall’s opening goal. Added to this and his continuous runs down the flanks, the winger also created two more chances and had a passing accuracy of 72%. 

Sunil Chhetri (Bengaluru FC)

The skipper led his team from the front against both Mumbai and NorthEast, slotting home the penalties that Bengaluru were awarded in both. With a combined passing accuracy of 72%, six tackles and three shots on target, Chhetri was at his best for Bengaluru.

Messi Bouli (Kerala Blasters FC)

Raphael Messi Bouli rescued a point for his side yet again after his second-half brace cancelled the goals scored by Jamshedpur. The Cameroonian forward was a continuous menace for the Jamshedpur defence, ending the night with five shots on target.
