The Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) has a new champion. Bengaluru FC overcame FC Goa in a tightly-fought Hero ISL 2018-19 final at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday to claim the crown and break the monopoly of ATK and Chennaiyin FC on Indian domestic football's biggest prize. The Blues were made to earn their title of India's best by a resolute Goa side, who went toe to toe with Bengaluru throughout the 90 minutes and most of Extra Time. It took a late goal by Rahul Bheke to separate the two sides on the day.

After the heartbreak in last season's final, the victory was a special one for the Blues as they found redemption after exactly one year. The special win brought about widespread celebrations by the players and fans on social media and congratulations poured in.

Bengaluru players like Sunil Chhetri, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Harmanjot Singh Khabra and others expressed their delight after the momentous win. For Chhetri and Gurpreet, in particular, the joy was compounded with the prospect of another shot at Asian glory.

Former Bengaluru player John Johnson, who was a part of the Blues last season congratulated his ex-teammates.

Albert Roca, who was the team's head coach during their run to the final last season, took the time to congratulate the boys.

Players from other Hero ISL teams also extended their heartiest wishes to the Bengaluru team.

Chennaiyin FC co-owner and actor Abhishek Bachchan, tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi, former Premier League star Angel Rangel, pundits, and many more followed suit.

The biggest reaction was, however, from the fans, who went wild with the celebrations on Twitter.
