Shooting the ball into the net has always been the most difficult thing to do in football and that old adage proved true in the inaugural Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) season as defenders made it difficult for forwards to get on the scoresheet.

In a fiery RFDL that saw outrageous shots, venomous volleys, and strikes with finesse became a common occurrence but it was consistency and stability that separated the top strikers from the rest.

As the dust settles on the tournament, here is the list of top goal scorers who stood out:

Rahul Raju

With seven goals, Raju proved to be a standout striker in RFDL and helped Bengaluru FC in their dream run. His contribution stands undisputed as he clutched in crucial matches with his goals to help his side lift the RFDL title trophy.

Nihal Sudeesh

Sudeesh stood for consistency upfront that transpired into success for Kerala Blasters FC as they finished runners-up. The midfielder ended the 2021-22 RFDL season with four goal contributions. 

Bekey Oram

Oram, an 18-year-old talent along with Rahul Raju were the backbone of the Blues attack. Through hard work and perseverance, he notched the second most number of goals (4 goals) for Bengaluru FC this season.

Jovial Dias

FC Goa also endured a good season as they finished in third place behind Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters FC. One of the bright sparks of their season was the striker Dias, who was a handful for defenders to deal with and almost always contributed for the Gaurs. The Indian attacker finished with 4 goals, making him the standout performer for FC Goa.

Lastborn Mawphniang

A crucial cog in Bengaluru FC’s attack, Mawphniang kept the opposition on their toes. He scored four goals for the club while making an appearance in just five matches. He was a big part of Bengaluru FC's attack that won many admirers.
