Born at Mapusa in Goa, local boy Mandar Rao Dessai has been living the dream for all Gaur fans by wearing the blue of FC Goa for the last two seasons. The talented winger is a fan favourite and has been a part of the squad from Hero ISL 2014. His showings in FC Goa’s run to the final last season went on to highlight the youngster’s development under head coach Zico. Dessai’s trickery on the flank combined with his two-footedness made him a big threat for most defences last year.In fact, it was the coming of age for the 24-year-old in Hero ISL 2015, where he scored thrice and also turned provider on numerous occasions. His Hero-of-the-Match performances against the likes of Delhi Dynamos FC and FC Pune City further emphasized Dessai’s previously untapped potential. This upcoming season will see him take the field once again for FC Goa as he continues to realise the dreams of thousands of young Goans who see themselves in Dessai.
