Matchweek 2 of the Indian Super League (ISL) delivered a series of exhilarating matches that left fans on the edge of their seats.

The action-packed week commenced with Mohun Bagan Super Giant clinching a hard-fought 1-0 victory over nine-man Bengaluru FC, setting the tone for what lay ahead. One of the highlights was the 'Game of Fine Margins' when Mumbai City FC twice came from behind to secure a thrilling 2-2 draw with Odisha FC.

NorthEast United FC displayed dominance with a resounding 3-0 win over Chennaiyin FC, while East Bengal FC added to the excitement with a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Hyderabad FC. Kerala Blasters FC continued their winning streak at home, maintaining their strong form.

After a blank in the opening week, FC Goa are up and running under Manolo Marquez as they secured a 1-0 victory against Punjab FC in the concluding game of matchweek 2.

Exciting games have also meant ISL Fantasy managers have been rewarded with a great number of points this week. So, who were the top performers from ISL Matchweek 2? Let's find out.

1. Asheer Akhtar (NorthEast United FC) – 11 Points

Much to everyone's surprise, Akhtar, a player selected by only a handful of ISL fantasy managers, achieved the highest fantasy point total of 11 points in Matchweek 2. The defender scored a stunning goal in the final moments of the game, leaving Chennaiyin FC's stand-in goalkeeper Ankit Mukherjee with no chance to prevent it. Akhtar displayed excellence throughout the match, contributing to his team's first clean sheet of the season.

2. Cleiton Silva (East Bengal FC) – 10 Points

Silva has announced himself to ISL Fantasy this week. The East Bengal FC captain was sublime against Hyderabad FC and picked up a brace, which included a superb stoppage-time free-kick goal that sealed the first three points for the Red and Gold Brigade this season. In his first start for East Bengal FC this season, Silva racked up ten points.

3. Hugo Boumous (Mohun Bagan Super Giant) – 8 Points

ISL Fantasy managers were disappointed to see Boumous starting from the bench in matchweek 1. However, managers who stuck with the midfielder in their team were rewarded as Boumous earned eight points. The midfielder scored the solitary goal in the match against Bengaluru FC and also earned a clean sheet point.

4. Phalguni Singh (NorthEast United FC) – 8 Points

Similar to Boumous, Singh also had a terrific game this week and racked up a goal and a clean sheet point. NorthEast United FC showcased their dominance over Chennaiyin FC at their home ground. Singh scored the second goal for his team when he beat his marker to meet Nestor Albiach's cross.

5. Adrian Luna (Kerala Blasters FC) – 8 Points

The Blasters' captain has started the ISL 2023-24 season in top form. Having notched up two goals and one assist, he currently leads the charts as the highest points scorer in ISL fantasy for the 23-24 season so far. Luna played a crucial role by scoring the decisive winning goal against Jamshedpur FC at the weekend, ensuring Kerala Blasters FC secured back-to-back home victories.
