The Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 saw some explosive performances in the month of November, both before and after the international break. Heading into the last month of the 2019 calendar year, let’s have a look at the pool of the top performers from the month gone by, who have been nominated for November’s Hero of the Month award. Over the next few days, fans and a panel of experts will be casting their votes to choose the eventual winner.

How to vote:

Here’s how the votes are counted:

Fans' votes will count towards 50% of the vote share and experts' votes account for the remaining 50%.

For example, if nominee ‘A’ gets 80 % of votes from fans, it will be counted as 40% in the final tally.

Similarly, if nominee A gets 60% of the experts' votes, it will be counted as 30% in the final tally and his final count will be 70% (40%+30%).

The nominee with the highest cumulative percentage (fans + experts) after voting ends will be named the Hero of the Month.

In the event that two players end up with equal final percentage (fans & experts' votes), the nominee with the higher percentage of experts' votes will win.

Here are the Hero of the Month nominees for November:

Sergio Castel

The Jamshedpur FC forward has been prolific for his side since his arrival from Spain. After putting in a solid shift in a goalless draw at home against reigning champions Bengaluru FC and scoring Jamshedpur’s only goal in a 3-1 defeat to ATK, the Spaniard scored Jamshedpur’s solitary goal away from home against FC Goa to condemn the mighty Gaurs to their first defeat of the season. With four goals to his name, Castel now leads the pack in the goal-scoring charts alongside Aridane Santana and Roy Krishna, despite having played a match lesser. Castel’s stellar performances have earned him a second Hero of the Month nomination in as many months.

Aridane Santana

Aridane Santana has quickly established himself as an important piece in Josep Gombau’s Odisha FC side. Santana equalised in the 82nd minute to rescue a point for his side against Chennaiyin and showed his versatility against ATK after being asked to play a more withdrawn role.

Mourtada Fall

Mourtada Fall has been a vital cog in FC Goa’s defence and also assisted a late, late Manvir Singh equaliser against NorthEast United at the beginning of the month. He then assisted Hugo Boumous, allowing Goa to take the lead against their rivals Mumbai City FC. He has played every minute of football this season and has a passing accuracy of 88.01, averaging 53 passes a game.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu

Bengaluru FC’s shot-stopper has kept three clean sheets this month, with his best performance coming against Jamshedpur FC. He made three crucial saves against Jamshedpur, including a stunner to keep out Farukh Choudhary’s acrobatic effort. Bengaluru possess the the best defensive stats in the division and Gurpreet has had a huge part to play in it. Last season’s Golden Glove winner will undoubtedly be a frontrunner for the honour this month.

Roy Krishna

With his strike partner David Williams headlining and winning October’s Hero of the Month award, November was Roy Krishna’s month to shine. The ace striker showcased his abilities to Hero ISL fans, winning and converting two penalties against Jamshedpur FC, whilst also assisting Edu Garcia for the third goal. In the final match of November against Mumbai City FC, Krishna also scored a late, late goal to rescue a point for his team. The Fiji international was always tipped to succeed in the league and November showcased exactly why.
