Gameweek 21 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 continued to enthrall fans with now only three teams in contention for the remaining two spots in the top four. Chennaiyin FC and semis contender Hyderabad FC earned draws against Kerala Blasters FC and current leaders ATK Mohun Bagan respectively. Meanwhile, other two semis contenders FC Goa and NorthEast United FC registered 2-1 victories over Bengaluru FC and SC East Bengal respectively. And then in the last match of the gameweek, Mumbai City FC overwhelmed Odisha FC as Bipin Singh scored the first hat-trick of the season. Here, we take a look at the team of the week for Gameweek 21.

Mirshad Michu

Mirshad Michu’s performance in SC East Bengal’s loss to NorthEast United FC earns him a place in the team of the week. The custodian, playing his first-ever match in the Hero ISL, made three saves and four punches as well as had a passing accuracy of 73%.

Lalruatthara

The fullback was one of the best players for the Blasters during their 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin FC. Lalruatthara made two successful tackles and all five of his interceptions were successful as well. He also made three blocks for his team besides creating three chances.

Pritam Kotal

Pritam Kotal scored the important goal that earned ATK Mohun Bagan a point against Hyderabad FC. The India international also made one clearance, one successful interception and one successful tackle for the Mariners.

Sarthak Golui

Although it was Sarthak Golui’s clearance that went into his own net to double NorthEast United FC’s lead, the defender made some amends by pulling one back for his team. Golui also made five clearances, and two successful interceptions for SC East Bengal.

Cy Goddard

The midfielder scored a quality goal in Mumbai City FC’s 6-1 win against Odisha FC.  He created four chances in the match and had two of his three shots on target. Besides, he also boasted a 92% passing accuracy.

Lalengmawia

Young midfielder Lalengmawia created three chances for his team during their win over SC East Bengal. Lalengmawia also helped out the Highlanders defence with six successful tackles and four clearances. He had a passing accuracy of 85% as well.

Ahmed Jahouh

The midfielder continued having a great season with Mumbai City FC and provided two assists in their thumping win over Odisha FC. He also came up with six successful tackles, two clearances as well as two successful interceptions. He also completed a whopping 111 passes out of 122.         

Bipin Singh

The Indian midfielder scored the first hat-trick of the season in Mumbai City’s FC 6-1 win over Odisha FC. He was unstoppable on the night and did his India chances a world of good. Besides his three goals, Bipin also boasted a 76% passing accuracy. 

Suhair Vadakkepeedika

Scoring his first-ever Hero ISL goal, Suhair gave the Highlanders the lead and was a constant threat to the SC East Bengal defence. The forward also made a defensive contribution of two successful interceptions, two clearances and one successful tackle.

Aridane Santana

Aridane Santana opened the scoring for a 10-man Hyderabad FC in the first half, before assisting Roland Alberg for their second goal of the night. The Spaniard was also integral to Hyderabad FC’s defending with two successful interceptions as well as two blocks.

Bartholomew Ogbeche

The striker was another Islanders player to have a great game in Mumbai City FC’s 6-1 win over Odisha FC. Not only he scored two goals, including the equaliser, he also provided two assists in the biggest victory of the season.
