The Islanders ended the 2022-23 campaign with 46 points, which is the highest-ever points tally achieved in a single season. They reached that mark with an emphatic 5-3 win over FC Goa in their 18th game of the season, a win that broke Jamshedpur FC’s record of 43 points set in the 2021-22 season.
First team to win the Hero ISL Shield twice (2020-21 and 2022-23)

Longest winning streak (11 games)
Buckingham’s men set a new record for the longest winning streak in the league with a 2-1 victory against Jamshedpur FC on January 27, 2023. Longest unbeaten streak in Hero ISL (18 games)
The 18-match unbeaten run that the Islanders enjoyed between a thrilling 3-3 draw against Hyderabad FC on October 9, 2022 and the 5-3 win over FC Goa on February 11, 2023, is the longest unbeaten streak in Hero ISL history. Mumbai City FC set a new record of finding the back of the net in 28 successive Hero ISL games, beating the previous high of 14 successive games by Chennaiyin FC (2015 to 2016), NorthEast United FC (2015 to 2016), Delhi Dynamos FC (2017-18 to 2018-19), and Kerala Blasters FC (2017 to 2018). Most wins in the league stage of the season (14)

Most wins in a season (14)
Mumbai City FC have now equalled Bengaluru FC for the most wins by a team in an entire season of the Hero ISL. The Islanders could set a new record with another win in the semi-finals to surpass the Blues who achieved this feat under then head coach Albert Roca in the 2017-18 season.
Fewest losses in a season (2)
Jose Molina’s ATK FC in 2016 recorded the fewest losses in a season (2). Buckingham’s Mumbai City FC have also suffered two defeats in the Hero ISL 2022-23 campaign.
This Mumbai City FC side under Des Buckingham has been a fiery side, incessantly setting new benchmarks with the hunger for more. They are far from finishing their journey as they vow to write more chapters in the Hero ISL record book.
While the league stage of the season might be over, Mumbai City FC have another record on the offer, a record which will be an all-exclusive record only for the Islanders.

First team to win both the Hero ISL title and Hero ISL Shield twice
Having previously won the historic Hero ISL double (the League Winners’ Shield and the Hero ISL champions trophy) in the 2020-21 season, the Islanders can become the maiden team in the history of the league to clinch the coveted accolade twice. Having already achieved one of the two silverwares, Buckingham will be keen on joining Sergio Lobera to be only the second manager to do so.
