As a rampant FC Goa side cantered to a 5-2 victory over Kerala Blasters FC in the 20th match of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18, Spaniard Ferran Corominas bagged a seven-minute hat-trick in the second half. That was the fastest hat-trick in the league’s history, and as Corominas himself admitted later on, the fastest in his career.

1. Ferran Corominas - FC Goa vs Kerala Blasters FC - 7 minutes

9th December 2017 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa

The Spaniard was at his lethal best when Kerala visited Goa for this match. He calmly slotted the ball through Kerala custodian Paul Rachubka’s legs for the first in the 48th minute, three minutes after which he chipped the onrushing keeper for his second and completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute when he tucked in a cross with a first-time strike. Goa ended up winning 5-2.

2. Marcelinho - Delhi Dynamos FC vs FC Goa - 18 minutes

27th November 2016 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi

Delhi Dynamos FC were rampant in front of the goal in the third season of Hero ISL and when they hosted FC Goa, Marcelinho showed no mercy. Trailing by a goal, he equalised with a thunderous strike that beat Laxmikant Kattimani at his near post in the 38th minute. Then three minutes after half time, he unleashed a rasping effort from a distance that hit the post and went in. He rounded off his scoring spree by beating the defender and goalkeeper with a superb solo effort in the 56th minute. The Lions ran out 5-1 winners.

3. Sunil Chhetri - Mumbai City FC vs NorthEast United FC - 23 minutes

28th October 2015 at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai

Sunil Chhetri became the first Indian to score a hat-trick in Hero ISL when he achieved the feat against NorthEast United FC in the second season of the league. Playing in Navi Mumbai, Chhetri opened the scoring courtesy off a cheeky Panenka from the spot in the 25th minute following a handball in the box. The second came five minutes from half time when he finished off Subash Singh’s headed pass into an empty net. He capped off his scoring in the 48th minute when he smashed in another penalty following another handball in the box. Mumbai comfortably won 5-1 on the night.

4. Dudu - FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC - 25 minutes

17th November 2015 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa

Goa inflicted the heaviest ever defeat of Hero ISL till date to a hapless Mumbai City side when they routed them 7-0 in the league’s second season. Two players scored a hat-trick; Dudu and Thongkoisiem Haokip. The former was quicker though, and he grabbed his first in the 42nd minute when he smashed home after being put through on goal. The 64th minute saw him score his second when he showed a great poachers instincts to turn in the ball after Subrata Paul’s parry from a free-kick. He got his hat-trick three minutes later after he turned in Leo Moura’s lay-off.

5. Reinaldo - FC Goa vs Kerala Blasters FC - 32 minutes

29th November 2015 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi

FC Goa were on a roll in the second season of Hero ISL and while inflicting Kerala Blasters FC to a 5-1 defeat at Kochi, Goa’s Brazilian striker Reinaldo bagged a hat-trick. His first goal came in the 29th minute, finishing off calmly with his left foot following some quick interchange of passes. Five minutes after the break, he got his second when he rolled in Mandar Rao Dessai’s through-ball. He capped off his hat-trick a minute after the hour mark when he simply tapped in C.S. Sabeeth’s pass from the right.
