Champions of their respective crafts
The league stage of Hero Indian Super League 2016 is drawing to a close this week and for Round 14
The league stage of Hero Indian Super League 2016 is drawing to a close this week and for Round 14, we have picked the best players in their respective positions based on their performance in the matches they have played so far. These players have been consistent, and more often than not they have made game-changing moments for their respective teams. If they are not in your team, then check them out here and fix your mistake. It’s better late than never!
Marcelinho (Forward, Delhi Dynamos FC)
Delhi Dynamos FC’s star forward Marcelinho has been in unbelievable form for the Lions this season. With nine goals and five assists to his credit, the 29-year-old has taken the league by storm. He has good speed, great ball control and has often created havoc in opposition defences. Available for a price of Rs 8.4 crore, and with 92 fantasy points so far, the Brazilian leads not only the leaderboard for forwards, but also the overall fantasy leaderboard.
CK Vineeth (Midfielder, Kerala Blasters FC)
Kerala Blasters midfielder CK Vineeth may have just made five appearances so far for the men in yellow, but has definitely made a big impact in those matches. With four goals to his name, Kerala’s 28-year-old is the highest-scoring midfielder in the league so far. He also has an assist to his name. His scintillating form is one of the main reasons behind Kerala’s revival in the last few matches. With 40 fantasy points, he is 13th on the list for midfielders, but that is mainly down to a lack of game time as he was away playing in the AFC Cup for the most part of the league stage. He is one of the key players this season, making him a steal for Rs 7.6 crore.
Lucian Goian (Defender, Mumbai City FC)
Lucian Goian has been a pillar at the back for Mumbai City FC so far this season. That Mumbai have the best defensive record this season is mainly down to the 33-year-old’s exploits. The lanky centre-back has made innumerable key tackles and interceptions and has made life extremely difficult for opposition attackers. With 84 fantasy points, he tops the list for defenders and is second overall in the leaderboard. This makes him a smart acquisition for only Rs 6.4 crore.
Debjit Majumder (Goalkeeper, Atlético de Kolkata)
Atlético de Kolkata shot-stopper Debjit Majumder has been in fine form this season. He has made some splendid saves, including a penalty save from Delhi’s marquee man Florent Malouda. He has played every minute of Kolkata’s season so far and has had a commanding presence in the penalty area. He has dealt with long balls successfully and gives the defenders around him a lot of moral support. With a total of 41 fantasy points, and available for a price of only Rs 5.4 crore, he is a must-buy for your team. He is third on the goalkeepers’ list but since Edel Bete (FC Pune City are out of semis contention) and Subrata Paul (who didn’t play in NorthEast United FC’s last game on account of injury) are not likely to get many matches, Majumder appears to be the perfect replacement.
