Chennaiyin FC have roped in Lithuania international Nerijus Valskis for the upcoming season. The 31-year-old right-footed attacker can play both as an out-and-out striker or as an attacking midfielder.

Valskis started his career in his native country and spent many years at the top level of Lithuanian football, winning several honours. During his time with FBK Kaunas back in 2008, he was part of the team which won the prestigious Baltic League and contributed with two goals in the tournament.

The 2012-13 season saw Valskis at his very best, as he scored 27 goals in the A Lyga - Lithunia's top division - while playing for Suduva. He was the top scorer that season and also bagged the Player of the Year award.

Apart from his home country, Valskis has also plied his trade in several countries like Belarus, Romania, Poland, Latvia, Thailand and Israel. During his first stint in Israel with Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv, he won the Israel State Cup back in 2016-17. He last played for Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Ligat ha'Al - Israeli top division.

On the international front, Valskis made his senior debut for Lithuania in 2013 and has gone on to play for his country 26 times, scoring once.
