ATK have acquired the services of former Mumbai City FC midfielder, Everton Santos for the 2018-19 season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). The Brazilian completes the two-time champions’ quota of seven foreign squad members ahead of the upcoming season.

The 31-year-old was a part of the youth system at Brazilian club Sao Jose EC in his growing up years. Thereafter, he went on to represent a number of Brazilian outfits, most notably Corinthians, before accepting a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2008. After three loan-laden seasons at the French capital, Santos shifted base to South Korea and later Brazil, before experiencing his first taste of Indian football at Mumbai City.

Santos was an integral part of the Islanders squad last season, featuring in all the 18 matches Mumbai played in 2017-18. A sturdy midfield lynchpin, his tally of six goals and five assists over the season is a great example of his effectiveness and attacking mentality. Alongside this, a total of 26 tackles, 11 interceptions, 10 clearances and 24 blocks lays focus on how he regularly fell back to aid the defence.

Though Mumbai finished seventh last season on the Hero ISL table, Santos would be raring to go with his new club, who themselves will be looking to leave behind the demons of last year. With the likes of Kalu Uche and Manuel Lanzarote alongside him, ATK surely bore the look one of the most formidable attacking units in the upcoming season.
