Defender Augustin Fernandes has signed a one-year contract with Jamshedpur FC, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2019-20 season.

The 30-year-old joined the Miners during the January transfer window of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 and went on to make three appearances for them, raking up 18 clearances, two blocks, four tackles and even a solitary goal.

The former India international is a veteran in Indian domestic football and has successfully plied his trade in some of the biggest clubs in the country, including Hero ISL sides ATK and FC Pune City. His bountiful experience, ball-playing ability and innate positioning sense are expected to shore up the Jamshedpur backline considerably next season.

After committing his future to the club, Augustin told the official Jamshedpur FC website, "Jamshedpur has been my home for the last five months and I have been enjoying every moment in the city. The people are extremely warm and hospitable. I love the fans of Jamshedpur FC and would like to thank the management for showing faith in me."

Jamshedpur CEO Mukul Choudhari added, "Augustin joined us late last season, but one could see his commitment towards the team. He brings in a lot of experience and it will only help us strengthen our squad. Having him for the entire season gives us the opportunity to see his full potential. Wishing him the best for the upcoming season."
