Chennaiyin FC got their second win of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 against FC Pune City at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune. Captain Henrique Sereno’s timely header in the last 10 minutes of the game propelled Chennaiyin to second on the table, level on points with leaders Bengaluru FC. Speaking after the match to indiansuperleague.com, the Portuguese defender, shared his thoughts on the game and his goal. Here are the excerpts.
How do you feel about scoring?
Yes of course, it is a special feeling but what matters is the three points and we got that so I’m happy about both. I think we didn’t play that well, maybe our worst game but finally we got the three points and I’m happy for that but we must improve for the next match.
On the preparation time compared to Pune?
It helps in a way and doesn’t too because the other team plays three games and starts the game with more focus and we need to enter the game. It is complicated but of course we were more fresh in the end but in the beginning they were fresher.
On FC Pune City’s strong attack and playing away in front of away fans?
It’s good for us; we like to play with all the fans. It’s better than playing with nobody. But you’re right, they do have an amazing team, the best attacking team in the league and we didn’t concede goals, so I’m happy for that.
Thoughts on the progress of your team?
Of course, we think game by game. Maybe we didn’t play good but we played with heart and that’s what matters. The important thing is we must win and we did, so I’m happy for that.
