The Reliance Foundation Young Champs academy (RFYC) kicked off in May 2015 with the vision of creating not only the nation’s next generation of football stars, but also its future role models and leaders.
Supported entirely by the Reliance Foundation, RFYC is a one of a kind full time residential football academy offering all expenses paid scholarships to young talented footballers from across the country.
In three short years, the academy is currently recognized by the All India Football Federation as the country's only 4 star residential academy under their 'Academy Accreditation Programme' making RFYC officially the best residential academy in the country (season 2017-18).
Based in Navi Mumbai, the academy currently hosts 60 children from around the country playing across four age groups (U12, U13, U14 & U16) with 16 full time staff dedicated to their development.
With holistic development of the children being the driving force behind what we do, the following are a few key aspects of the academy –
Started in 2015, RFYC is a full time residential football academy offering scholarships to talented children from across the country. RFYC was the first football academy in the country to be accredited as a 4 star academy by the All India Football Federation under their academy accreditation programme.
The academy is located in Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai.
We rely solely on our scouts and scouting network to look for our players. You can send in your request to us at email@example.com however we give no assurance of applicants being scouted.
Each season the academy looks for children at the under 12 level. For the current season (2018), children born in 2006 were inducted into the academy. The 2019 intake will be for children born in 2007. Our scouts are on the lookout for technically gifted players who work hard and are hoping to make their careers as professional football players. We do not conduct open trials for the academy. The selection process is as follows –
Step 1: Once our scouts have seen a potential player several times playing in his local environment he is shortlisted for the next stage of the selection process.
Step 2: RFYC coaches travel to the different regions where players have already been scouted and conduct a one day training camp with the shortlisted players.
Step 3: A final group of shortlisted players from across the country (approx. 80) are invited to the academy for a week long selection camp.
Our scouts are engaged through the year (except monsoons) and are continually looking for talent. The regional training camps happen in March and April. The final selection camp in Mumbai is held in the first week of May.
No unfortunately our intake each year is only at the under 12 level. For the next intake (2019) we will be looking for children born in 2007.
