FC Goa have announced that head coach Sergio Lobera has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2019-20 season of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL).

The Spaniard has had a fruitful spell with the club since taking over the reins in 2017. Under his stewardship, Goa reached the semi-finals of the Hero ISL 2017-2018 season. They would go down to eventual champions Chennaiyin FC. Owing to his attacking style of play, the Gaurs ended up scoring the most goals in the season with 43.

During the inaugural Hero Super Cup in April this year, Goa made it all the way to the semi-finals of the tournament before bowing out to Hero I-League side East Bengal.

Lobera’s men currently lead the standings of the 2018-19 season, collecting 16 points from seven matches. They have once again established themselves as the most formidable attacking force in the league, already bagging 21 goals.

The former Barcelona youth coach will undoubtedly be hoping to bring the coveted Hero ISL trophy to Goa before his tenure with the club ends.
