Delhi Dynamos FC picked up a shock 3-2 win over Bengaluru FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday. Ulises Davila's goal in the ninth minute gave Delhi the lead, but Boithang Haokip scored in the 19th minute to bring Bengaluru level. Sunil Chhetri's 72nd-minute strike looked to have put Bengaluru in the driver's seat before Daniel Lalhlimpuia struck twice to seal a win for the Lions.

At the post-match presser, Delhi head coach Josep Gombau expressed his delight with the night's work and said, "We are happy with the result. I think that we did quite well against a very strong opponent. Bengaluru are the team at the top of the table. We have worked all week preparing for this game. What we prepared in the training session worked well. I’m happy for the boys."

The Spaniard also heaped praise on young Daniel for his decisive impact on the match. "I’m happy for him. You measure a striker for the number of goals that he scores. He played 45 minutes and scored the two goals, which is good. Last game wasn’t the best for him. Second-half today, I told Daniel that he will have 45 minutes to play and he played well," he said.

Asked if his defence was to blame for Sunil Chhetri's goal in the second-half, Gombau opined, "It came in a transition. We had the control of the ball and Narayan Das brought the ball to the opposing team, which is when they had the transition. Such moments, it happens in football. When you have the ball, your full-back is a bit higher because we want him to attack also. This is part of the game."

Bengaluru head coach Carles Cuadrat, meanwhile, rued the fact that the team lost despite taking the lead in the second-half.  "There were a lot of things happening in the game. When we were 2-1 up, we weren’t having a lot of problems. We should have worked to keep that result. Unfortunately, there was a mistake inside the box when marking Daniel. We left the ball completely for him. He scored and after that anything could happen. We tried to keep up with the plan, but it was not possible," he said.

Like his opposite number, Cuadrat congratulated Daniel, a former Bengaluru player, on his impactful performance. "I have to congratulate him. I have been working with him for two years. He is a fantastic professional. Its football, these things happen. I don’t know if he was extra-motivated. He was doing his job. It happens a lot in football. It’s one of the nice things about football," Cuadrat stated.
