In lieu of the recent damage caused to the state of Kerala due to the floods, Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation Smt. Nita M. Ambani held a meeting with the Manjappada – a fan group of Kerala Blasters FC on Thursday, with the agenda of figuring out a way in which Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) and Hero Indian Super League (ISL) can contribute towards the ongoing relief efforts. In addition to that, the Reliance Foundation has donated a total of Rs 21 crore to the Kerala Chief Minister’s relief fund as well as Rs 50 crore worth of aid materials for the people affected by the devastating floods.

The Manjappada group have been one of the most active groups in Kerala over the past month providing relief and support to the people. The group set up collection points across the country including Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi with the aim of providing basic relief materials for the people. They also set up an active Manjappada helpline number for any flood-related emergency and support.

With the death toll rising to more than 450 and thousands of people stranded at various relief camps across the state, the recent floods was the worst disaster to hit the state of Kerala in a century. Over the past two weeks, Reliance Foundation’s team have undertaken rescue and relief operations in the six districts of Ernakulam, Wayanad, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Idukki and Pathanamthitta.

Chairperson of Reliance Foundation Smt. Nita Ambani spoke of the support that will be provided and urged the people of Kerala to stay strong, “Reliance Foundation is committed to support the people of Kerala in this time of crisis. We will be there for all of you, and together we will overcome this calamity. Keep the faith. God’s Own Country will soon regain its grandeur.”

The Reliance Foundation set up medical camps in three districts across the state in a bid to prevent the outbreak of epidemics and have also contributed towards the distribution of basic supplies to the people.
