ATK have snapped up young defender Boris Singh Thangjam for the upcoming campaign of the Hero Indian Super League. The 18-year-old joins the club after previously representing Indian Arrows in the Hero I-League.

Boris Singh earned a name for himself when he represented India in the FIFA U-17 World Cup last year. The young defender missed India’s first game of the tournament owing to suspension but would go on to impress later in the tournament. Raised in Manipur, Singh has also represented the U-16 national team, most notably at the AFC U-16 championship in 2016. The 18-year-old is well known for his lightning pace on the ball, which he displayed for the Indian Arrows last season. Singh will be hoping to make a name for himself under Steve Coppell at ATK in his first season in the Hero ISL.

Two-time champions ATK have been busy bringing in a host of new players to their squad ahead of the new season. The Kolkata-based side also recently completed the signing of Everton Santos before capturing Singh. They will play the season opener of the 2018-19 Hero ISL against familiar foes Kerala Blasters at the iconic Salt Lake stadium on September 29.
