Josep Gombau’s Delhi Dynamos FC gave further testament of their faith in youth by wrapping up Minerva Punjab goalkeeper, Arshdeep Singh. The Lions announced the move on Thursday, and sees the 22-year-old join up with the likes of Xisco Hernandez, Diawandou Diagne and Martin Guedes, among others, as the new entrants in Gombau’s squad.

The youngster started and learned his trade at the AIFF Elite Academy, later joining Minerva in 2015. His debut came two years later, following which he never looked back. Last season was his most productive as he caught everyone’s attention with assured and safe goalkeeping. Arshdeep played in Minerva’s AFC Cup match against the Marina Machans a while back, although he had to require treatment and later, a surgery.

The 22-year-old also played a part in Derrick Perreira's U-23 Indian team for the AFC Championship Qualifiers earlier this year. His strengths include good awareness of his box and terrific catching ability. Under Gombau’s watchful eye, Arshdeep could further upgrade his skills and take his game to the next level. The Spaniard proved last season that he is more than willing to hand youngsters starting berths if they impress him in training and are ready to make the most of their minutes on the field.
