Goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharja has signed a two-year contract with ATK Mohun Bagan FC, the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) club announced on Sunday. The custodian was an integral part of ATK FC, making 38 appearances for the Kolkata club across two seasons.

“Winning the ISL while representing Kolkata was very special. Playing for the Mariners this season will be an honour. I have amazing teammates who shield me on the pitch and I too will give my all as we attempt to defend the trophy,” the shot-stopper said after putting pen on paper.

Arindam has been a part of the league since its inception in 2014, playing in every season of the Hero ISL and making a total of 56 appearances. He began his Hero ISL career with FC Pune City, making 16 appearances for the club across three seasons. After a brief stint with Mumbai City FC during the 2017-18 season, where Arindam turned up twice for the Islanders, he moved to his home state to join ATK FC.

During his two seasons with ATK, Arindam kept 13 clean sheets. Last season, the goalkeeper gave close competition to Gurpreet Singh Sandhu for the Golden Glove award and was also instrumental in ATK’s win over Chennaiyin FC in the 2019-20 final, winning the Hero of the Match award for his efforts in the game.

Ahead of Hero ISL 2020-21, ATK Mohun Bagan FC have signed several players like Pritam Kotal and Prabir Das from ATK’s title-winning team. A few of their notable new defensive signings include Sandesh Jhingan, Tiri and Subhasish Bose.
