Twenty-three-year-old India international, Udanta Singh has signed a new three-year contract with former Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) champions Bengaluru FC. The Blues announced the deal, which will see the dynamic winger stay at the club until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, on Thursday. Udanta featured in 19 games for Carles Cuadrat’s side in the Hero ISL 2019-20 campaign, scoring a solitary goal which came in a 1-1 draw away to FC Goa in late-October.

Last season, the youngster scored five and provided three assists in 19 matches, helping the Blues win their first Hero ISL title. Udanta first signed for Bengaluru back in 2014 and has gone on to represent the club in over 130 matches since, scoring a total of 16 goals. Fifty-seven of those appearances have come in the Hero ISL. Udanta, however, made his Hero ISL debut in Mumbai City FC during Hero ISL 2016 while on loan. The Manipuri played only one match for the Islanders that term.

Upon signing the long-term deal, the India international said, “I’m really happy to continue this journey with Bengaluru FC. I have had an absolutely fantastic six years at this club where we have won five big trophies and extending for three more years wasn’t a hard decision. We’ve had a tough season this year, but it’s all about resting well in the off-season and getting back stronger and to work even harder next year.”

Bengaluru CEO Mandar Tamhane, meanwhile, stated, “Udanta has been with the club for six seasons and has been an integral reason for Bengaluru winning five titles since then. He knows the club, the values it upholds and the family that it is, which explains why he has agreed to commit the next three years of his career to the Bengaluru blue. We know what he brings to the pitch and we are certain of him delivering everything he is capable of.”
