Jamshedpur FC kicked-off their campaign in phenomenal style, cruising past Mumbai City FC in their season opener. The 2017-18 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) debutants will now go head-to-head against a solid Bengaluru FC side for their second consecutive away fixture of the season at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

With Tim Cahill likely to make his Hero ISL debut and a great squad at his disposal, head coach César Ferrando will be eager to register another win and rise to the top of the table, before the international break begins from Monday. Ahead of Sunday’s encounter, Ferrando attended the pre-match press conference to speak to the media.

The Spanish commenced by expressing his delight for Jamshedpur’s new star signing, Tim Cahill, as the Australian is most likely to be featured in the tie. “Tim is a good signing for us - both in and out of the field and he's very important. I think he's going to play tomorrow. He's a big example for the young Indian players. I am very happy with him, but he has to improve his performance. He can play 70 mins and that is enough for us.”

Ferrando also heaped praise on defensive stalwart Tiri, who displayed a solid performance in the previous match. “He is very important for us. He’s a good defender and our captain. He’s a fighter. He’ll always want to win. He’s important in set pieces, both in defensive and offensive ones. He’s a winner. For a coach, it’s very important to have someone like him.”

The 59-year-old went on to share his thoughts on compatriot Carles Cuadrat’s coaching style and had some kind words to say. “I know Carles is a good coach. In their last match, like us, they played very well. They beat a big team like Chennai (Chennaiyin FC). It’s a big challenge for us to try to win here. I want to win here. Bengaluru have a good coach. The style of their coach is to win every match. They can play like Barcelona and also like Atletico Madrid”

The manager ended the press conference by backing up his Indian defenders. “I have good Indian players. They work very hard. I’m happy with them. They have to understand the game. They have to understand different situations between games. They have to improve. I want to control the game. I don’t like playing back and forth.”
