Bengaluru FC have acquired the services of 34-year-old centre back Albert Serran ahead of the upcoming season of the Hero Indian Super League. Serran becomes Bengaluru’s seventh and final foreign signing before the transfer window closes.

Serran started-off his career with RCD Espanyol’s youth academy and appeared a few times in La Liga for Periquitos. After his spell in the Spanish top flight, Serran moved to the United Kingdom where he would spend three years with Welsh side Swansea City FC. The Spaniard last represented Moroccan side Chabab Rif Al Hoceima.

In a press release from the club, Serran spoke of his excitement on joining with the Indian football club and was eagerly awaiting to meet the fans. “It’s a great experience in my career to sign for Bengaluru FC. The pre-season in Spain was great and I had the chance to meet the staff and players. I was given a warm welcome and felt very good from the beginning. I’m expecting to arrive in Bengaluru soon, to know more about the fans and the city.”

The Blues have had a sea change over the summer with the appointment of new head coach Carles Cuadrat. After the departure of John Johnson, Serran will serve as a reliable replacement at the back. Bengaluru will play their first game of the new season with an encounter against Chennaiyin FC on September 30.
