Bengaluru FC kept their current undefeated run intact by winning 2-0 against a solid Jamshedpur FC side at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. Miku's penalty and Sunil Chhetri's header proved to be the difference after 90 minutes as the Blues picked up their twelfth victory of the season. Jamshedpur did try to up their game in the second period, but a fantastic performance from Bengaluru’s defence led by custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu kept them at bay. Post the final whistle, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the ‘Hero of the match’ Sandhu for his views on the match and more. Here are the excerpts.

Talk us through the game.

Coming to this game, it was always difficult because Jamshedpur as everyone knows is a solid team with a good defence. It was an important game for us. We lost against them at home and coming over here and trying to make sure that we finished first was important. I think the boys showed character throughout the game and kept the lead intact. That’s what made us win.

How important is it for the team’s morale to enter the playoffs as league leaders?

I think it’s very important to keep the winning momentum. It helps us as a team and that’s what we discussed in the dressing room as well. We can’t take any game lightly. We have to try and make sure that we’re playing to our potential in every single game.

Any message for the fans?

I think they have been great throughout. I can’t ask them to do anything more. They have been brilliant. I just want them to support us throughout the league and hopefully, we will go to the final and make them proud.

How did it feel playing at Bhubaneswar?

I think the facilities provided over here are very good. I didn’t expect it to be this good and thanks to all the fans in Bhubaneswar who made it out here.
